it's Vista which cannot read them, until you download and install WinHelp32.exe from Microsoft.

Does that mean that WinHelp32.exe will work in Vista and that Vista does not come with WinHelp32.exe? Does that mean that after XP, the program WinHelp32.exe is no longer supplied with Windows? Could we simply copy all the files for WinHelp32.exe from windows XP and paste them into some certain folders on Windows Vista?

zlatkoJB,

That was the Post Message page. Did you intend to state a different link?

I notice you are fairly new, and the message I wrote is from 7 months ago. Still, I am interested in any other responses that readers of JB have about helpfiles in Vista.

I am having the same problem except I have Windows 10. Does anyone know how to get Just Basic to be compatible with Windows 10? Also, I am new at the forum, so I do not know how to start another thread with my own question. Thank you... smiley

The main thing is not to install JB in default directory suggested in setup which is now a restricted area for programs.

I set mine up on my desktop.

Read "Installation FAQ" in top right hand corner of screen just under main header.

You will also have troubles getting help files setup, I can't find the place that helps with that. Maybe someone else remembers...

Welcome and happy new year!

PS on the solid blue bar that marks page numbers of board on left, allows start New Thread on right if you are logged in (and not in a thread).

PPS Help and tutorial: there is a download link in this thread and you will have to unblock a security setting in the properties window
of the .chm file for it to work properly as I recall.

Click on the download link above then Download. Then Save, Open, Extract All. Now choose the location you installed Just BASIC to, for example C:\basic, now click on extract.

Navigate to the new .chm file, it is called JustBASICHelp.chm, right click on the file name, under the general pane click Unblock if it exists.

Now right click and drag a shortcut to your desktop, use this shortcut whenever you want to read the helpfile.
