I can change the textbox background color easily ... but can not figure out how to change the color of the text within the textbox... and is the textbox border able to be changed to 'not visible' ? thanks

ForegroundColor$ = "yellow" Use this special variable before you open the window. The down side is that it will change the text color for all controls on the window.
You can do everything you ask in Liberty BASIC with stylebits and API but not in Just BASIC.
The reason color support is relatively poor is that the USER is supposed to choose the style, size and color contrast that displays on his computer. So using the default colors was what everyone did back in the old days when Just BASIC was designed.
If you want color in Just BASIC then use a graphicbox, that's the easiest fix. Even moving to Liberty BASIC coloring controls can be a pain.
