exclamation Star Ship: New Release!
« Thread started on: Jan 4th, 2011, 12:56pm »

I have finally uploaded a new release of Star Ship : Explore Mode!

This is an alpha version, as I have not yet added all the features of the game.

I have only included the actual game this time, but I am urgently asking for anyone willing to help me design levels for the game! I have developed an easy-to use map editor that I would be happy to share.

Download the game here

Please tell me if you find a bug, typo or any other errors!

Lastly, please feel free to post suggestions/requests here.

Thanks to everyone who reads this,

specsdude smiley

By the way people- this game is made to accompany Star Ship : Flight Mode, where you can fly around in space and land on different planets (and shoot down other space ships, hopefully).

Once I've finished Explore Mode, I'll start on that.

What do you mean by "accompany" ?

Are there two BAS files that need to exist and be run?
Is this new game to replace the old game?

No, no.

There will be two parts to the game. Explore, and Flight.

Explore is what I have just released, and is the start of the game. When you get to the hangar you launch your spaceship. Then you get a series of missions/quests, each on a certain planet or space station which you have to fly to, land on, do the mission.

So it's one game, but when you're in space it's Flight Mode, when you're 'on land' its Explore Mode.

I just tried to play it. I walked into the room to the right of the starting room, and walked to the left of the first person I saw, and clicked the space bar...

Program error and it shut down, it said:

#x
#m

These handles closed by Just BASIC.
Please add the appropriate CLOSE commands.

UPDATE - then the next error that shows states:

Runtime error: OS Error: The system cannot find the path specified. (see error.log for more information)

Well, I have downloaded it and tried it and it works fine.

If anyone is reading this, please could you confirm whether there is an error by downloading and running the program?

Thanks very much,

TyCamden-

check that you have the file called

Riker-and-Spock-1.txt

in the same directory as the .bas file, because that is the file needed for the conversation that you tried.

Yes, I have it. It was one of the zipped items I received.

Hmm...

Try running it in Debug mode and see where it goes wrong.

I have absolutely no idea why it shouldn't be working, because I downloaded a copy and it worked fine. huh

Ohhhh, I know what it is!

The map file was configured for my computer! So the file paths are wrong! Hold on, I'll adjust it and reload.

I'll post a copy of the map file here as well.
