Hmm...

I guess by 3D you don't mean making a sprite smaller as it moves away.

With turtle graphics, the best (and I guess, only) 3D object I have seen so far was made by DAVEG. But I guess turtle graphics is not suited for 3D, because there would be an enormous amount of drawing going on, and you should be happy if you get a new animation frame finished every other minute or so.

Do you have any idea yourself how to accomplish all this?

The only practical way to do 3D in JB is to create a lot of flat sprites that appear to rotate when moved. This is the way older gaming systems approached the problem.

Neither LB nor JB can do REAL 3D graphics. There is not enough horse power. LB can access 3D via OpenGL and or DirectX but still lacks the real processing power to really take advantage of the tools.

Since Sprites is the only way to do this, I doubt anyone will be able to give it the time or paitence to work out all the images needed. Even if they did, a couple months is not very long for the amount of work you are proposing.

If anyone is interested in this challenge, please speak up. If there is no interest over the next few days, I will lock this one down.

I agree with Brad. Since Just BASIC is still not ready for 3 Dimension yet. You should change the rule to be 2D first because the time consumption to create so many function in the game. cool

For those who are interested in hardcoding DLL calls in LB, read this book:

Windows Game Programming for Dummies
by André LaMothe

This teaches DirectX 8.1.

I'm confused as to how this relates to Just BASIC. I'm even more confused as to how this relates to the topic at hand. Please refrain from posting off topic replies. Thanks.

Returning our attention back to the proposed 3D Skateboarding programming challenge...

Sorry took to long to reply i didnt notice this was here.I DO believe making a 3D skateboarding game is possible with sprites BUT (remember the but statement)IT would be so complex it would take a good amount of ingenouity and imagination to acomplish it.I will try on 2D first though

A little netiquette:
We do not post with all capital letters because it is considered yelling.
No one here likes, or deserves, getting yelled at.

You have a thread asking how to move a stick figure man.
Repeating the same question in someone else's thread, especially when it's off topic, is not going to garner any favor with forum members .
Let's keep your question in your thread so replies don't get missed.

I never say a True 3D Game made in JB. Maybe it can but it will fill all the space in this room and it will be over 5000 lines of codes (To compare). I would thoigh, but Im not into much of games making.

If you look at the date given just below the topic, you'll see the previous post was January 2007. I doubt if anyone is following this thread at this time.

The expiration date of Austin's challenge was April 1st, 2006! Like many new users, the challenge was posted because I don't know how to do this, can someone show me? We've changed the rules for posting challenges to make them more realistic.

At any rate, since the original challenge was more than two years ago, and since the expiration date was also more than two years ago... is it really necessary to reply to this post?
