9/11 proposes this programming challenge, if you are interested post here to say you are having a go. Post whatever you have at the deadline. Now start thinking dark and moody!

1. It would be a medieval text adventure. The programmer would make it a game where you fight enemies and gain experience and level up.

2. The deadline for signing up would be August 3rd, and the deadline for submitting an entry would be August 15th.

3. The deadline for signing up to judge would be August 3rd as well, and they would submit their vote the day or two days after the competition is over.

Anyway, please tell me as soon as you can if I can begin this contest, or if you have any tips on what I should change. Thanks!

"text adventure" as in Wikipedia::Adventure_game/Text_adventure?
just to clarify a bit.
(may be not so restrictive... like, Wikipedia::Roguelike will do?)

A: Go ahead. I had my share of good then I coded it for fun, if you can make better use of it - please do.

As in fully in the main window, no GUI. You can use music and sound FX if you want. grin Good luck! cheesy

We can stretch to GUI if folks are more comfortable with that. Keep in mind the mainwin is really for development and debugging.

Anyways, anything you code will be welcome. Try just one aspect of the challenge, be it graphics sound or text chat or weighted combat.

How would you win a battle? Strength, agility? how would you earn these? How would your opponents?

Keep it simple, keep it fun.
