xx Installation Creators
« Thread started on: Feb 17th, 2011, 09:19am »

I have come across a very useful program for creating instillation files.

it is called Setup2GO, it is free, but with the free version you get a little window at the end of the instillation saying it was made by Setup2GO, nothing to annoying

It allows you to select all the files for the application, which it installs into the usual place (can be changed by user)

it also allow the creating of other features, such as application data files

it will put files into these locations:
application
common files
application data
favorites
my documents
startup
desktop
windows

it allows short cuts to any files you wish (and web pages) in these locations:
start menu
start menu programs
start menu start up
desktop
quick launch toolbar

it comes with a large number of useful features and tools and is incredibly easy and fast to use!

i would highly recommend it!

The file discussed on the webpage is for the version from year 2004 and the operating systems for SetUp2Go are Win 9x/ME/2K/NT/XP, NOT Vista nor 7. Some people still use Windows XP, but more people are upgrading to Windows 7 and Vista. I would be interested to know how well Setup2Go functions in Vista & 7, and if Setup2Go has itself been revised since version 1.9.11.

I also tried Setup2Go many(or few) years and it was one of the best I tried. These days, one must wonder how well an older program works in th newer operating systems of Windows.

Another installation maker which seemed to be good (from years ago) was the one from ClickTeam, the free version.

I have installed it onto my laptop which is vista,

made an instilation file for my calculator (which has multiple extra files, including a appdata file) and it works fine from where i have tested it, i havnt tried it on my win7 pc yet, havnt had a chance to copy the installer file across to the win7 and try it

Edit: Just tried this software in win7, works fine, it created an installer file, i ran it and all was good

Your experience on the Windows Vista and Windows 7 is good to know about. The one discouraging fact is that www.dev4pc.com is not displaying any meaningful representation for Setup2Go. Other web-searches about Setup2Go and SDS Software are returning no currently active information about the company or of any publisher links to Setup2Go.

You may check out wItem Installer, which creates MSI files or installers and supports all Windows versions.

There was an installer review in the LB newsletters too.

From what I have found, Setup2Go evolved into wItem Installer2Go, which was abounded and wItem Installer was raised.
