xx Stand-alone EXE
« Thread started on: Jul 17th, 2011, 06:49am »

I've found an easy way to package all files into one executable file.
When the file is opened or executed, it extracts all files into same directory and deletes them on exit.

Here's what I have done.

Created a program in JB named Theme Tools.exe
Created a batch file named Theme Tools Installer.bat containing the following.
Code:
"Theme Tools.exe"

If there's no spaces in the JB program's title, leave off the quotes.
Run Bat To Exe-Converter and load Theme Tools Installer.bat.
You can set it to Invisible Application on the Options tab so you don't see the DOS window when you run it.
Go to the Include tab and add all needed files from your JB program.
You can also add version information and a custom icon.
Click Compile and you then have a single executable file to easily distribute and use.

Do not name the batch file the same as your programs exe file.

Now, this one a great piece of software.
It allows to create single EXE *and to pass arguments to it* (!)
(with just tstCmd.exe %1 in a BAT file).
(and could set working directory to "current" instead of "TEMP")

Q: "And if I took your codes and compile them, and sell them for a profit"?
A: Go ahead. I had my share of good then I coded it for fun, if you can make better use of it - please do.
(enjoying JB 1.01 on WinXP, netbook and desktop)

Sound really cool and desirable. Please, recognise that lots of folks won't understand the benefit, even those that have been clamouring for "The Wrap" and such.

I would very much like you guys to port a tutorial over to the Wiki giving people a blow by blow account of what you are doing, why you are doing it and how others can do it.

One extra benefit of using this method, you can have the converted bat file write to a text file such things as %userprofile%.
Then have your program read and use that data to emulate Environment Variables.
