Do you know what happend to my "basic in basic" post? It has gone missing without a trace!

Edit: Had the page pulled up on a different computer. After refresh it said " the topic you are tying to access is not on this board"

It is really quite straight forwards. Post and discuss Just BASIC code on this forum and nothing else. If you are using another product use its forum for support.

How does writing a BASIC interpreter in Just BASIC (which was the subject matter of the deleted thread) qualify as "using another product"? That would imply that discussing 'tiny basic.bas' (one of the sample programs supplied with LB 4.5.0) is not allowed either!

Richard.

The thread was not deleted on that basis. zjohn should feel perfectly free to discuss building a basic interpreter here. Other contributions caused the thread's demise.

You all know the policy, it isn't up for debate.

Hi Rod,

I confess I was baffled (and more) by the sudden disappearance of the thread as well.

So the tread was disappeared because of the bad start of questionable JB code?

It's baffling because it appeared to be going OK after we seemed to have recovered from that. tsh admonished him, I thought we were back on track.

True, there was mention of another product, why not just disappear that post and PM the poster?

Ah! maybe you know something about what is going on that I don't.

Maybe I am only one following this (in the dark about things).

Maybe you can PM me, (please), if this post is disappeared.

It was nothing to do with zjohn, he innocently posted code that was clearly written for another language and would not run in Just BASIC. The other language fans took the opportunity to start comparisons and discussions, even Richard was sucked in to the thread.

I have said it many times, this is not a general discussion forum, it is dedicated to supporting Just BASIC. Wear that hat and everything will be fine.

It is not up for further debate and I personally am not going to waste a single moment more of my life debating what is acceptable or not. Mention it and it goes, clean and simple.
